August 3 Meeting
of the Pittsford Historical Society
The next meeting of the society is on Sunday, August 3,
beginning with potluck desserts at 2 p.m. Priscilla Jackson and
family will again host us at her home at 254 Middle Road, North
Chittenden.
The program features our new
book, "Around Pittsford," a photographic history of Pittsford
and two neighbors, Chittenden and Proctor, to be published early
next year.
Peggy Armitage urges people from
all three towns to bring old photos that illustrate life in the
old days up to the 1990s. If you can't attend, please call her,
483-2108, and she will explain what kinds of photos she needs to
include in the book. It will have a soft cover with black and
white pictures and a short caption for each.
The price will be about $20.00.
Arcadia Publishing will produce, promote, and market it for us.
Please bring your photos (and a lawn chair, dessert, or fruit or
cheese and crackers) for a "Show and Tell" afternoon at the
Jacksons' home.
If you're willing to loan photos
we can have them scanned and returned to you. In case of rain,
the meeting will be moved indoors.
Pittsford Day Success
We enjoyed an enthusiastic response to our exhibit of Pittsford
High School graduation pictures at the Pittsford Day Celebration
on June 28. Congratulations to Randy Adams and all the
volunteers and committee members on making it a successful
event. |

We had a great turnout at
our Tag & Bake Sale
Our Tag and Bake Sale on
July 12 topped last year's new high. Treasurer Barbara Poljacik
reports about $550 in hand at press time and a few more dollars
expected. Tag sale donors and fine cooks were unusually generous
this year, for which we are very grateful. We gave tag sale
leftovers to the Lions Club for their auction.
Proceeds help us pay for lights,
heat, telephone, insurance, and museum maintenance and supplies
for Eaton Hall. We thank the many members and friends who
contributed hard work and sale items.
