This award-winning History of Pittsford, Vermont -- the first since the 1872 "History of Pittsford" by A.M. Caverly -- was published in 1998 by the Pittsford Historical Society.

The Connecticut Genealogical Society has reviewed the book, with the excerpt:

"This book captures the magic, nostalgia, and history of Pittsford, VT...There are over one hundred pages of genealogies... It would be wonderful if every community had people who could produce a work of this magnificence."

"Pittsford's Second Century" (ISBN 0-914659-85-5), printed by Phoenix Publishing, is a beautiful hard cover book with a color print of the 1848 Frederic E. Church oil painting of Pittsford's Otter Creek Inn on the cover. The book contains 750 pages of history, genealogy, houses, together with foldout maps, photographs, lists of war veterans, business owners and place names. Excerpts:

We are pleased to introduce “Around Pittsford,” a photographic history of Pittsford, Chittenden, and Proctor, recently published by Arcadia Publishing.  The 128-page soft cover book is part of Arcadia’s “Images of America” series.

A majority of over 170 images have never before been published.

Assisted by Chittenden and Proctor historians, Pittsford author Peggy Armitage wrote captions for the black and white photos dating from the 1850s to 1990s, using many from the Society’s collections and others loaned by residents. The text includes an introduction to the three adjoining towns, chapters on people, places, and products, and a bibliography.
